DFO advises fish harvesters that the portion of Scallop Fishing Area 10 (Placentia Bay), inside a line drawn from Point Verde (47 14.33" N, 54 00.94"W) on the east side of the bay, to Red Harbour (47 16.59"N, 54 58.58"w) on the west side, Inner Bay, will close 2000 hours March 31, 2024 and will reopen 0600 hours September 1, 2024 in line with the management plan for that fishery.

The Department of Fisheries and Oceans would like to advise that an in-person discussion on V-Notch Lobsters will take place in Bonavista on March 27th at 11AM at the Firehall.

The intent of this meeting is to provide Lobster Harvesters in the area with information regarding the V-notch lobster program and provide an opportunity to ask questions of Fishery Officers.

DFO advises that 3Ps fixed gear herring fisheries in Herring Fishing area 10 will close at 2000 hours, March 18, 2024, for barr seine.

The Regional Director General, Fisheries and Oceans Canada, Newfoundland and Labrador Regions gives notice that Variation Order 2024-005 has been revoked and Variation Order 2024-010 comes into effect at 1700 hours on March 18, 2024.

DFO wishes to advise inshore crab harvesters in Crab Fishing Areas 3B (White Bay) and 3C (Green Bay) in NAFO Division 3K that applications for CFA 3BC are now available.

Harvesters can obtain an application by contacting the area licencing center by phone or e-mail. Applications can also be requested from the National Online Licencing System (NOLS).

Applications must be returned to the Area Office by close of business on March 15, 2024.

The Department of Fisheries and Oceans would like to advise in-shore harvesters and other interested stakeholders that there is an outreach meeting in Burgeo scheduled for Tuesday, March 19, 2024, from 12:00 P.M. to 2:00 P.M. at the Burgeo Haven Dining Room.

The intent of these meetings is to provide inshore harvesters and other interested stakeholders an opportunity to discuss matters of concern with respect to the various inshore fisheries.
