DFO advises that the Atlantic Halibut fishery in NAFO Division 4R for Quebec-based vessel classes A138 to A144 and A500 to A700 will open at 0001 hours EDT on April 1, 2022 and close 2359 hours EDT on October 31, 2022.

The Regional Director General, Fisheries and Oceans Canada, Newfoundland and Labrador Region gives notice that Variation Order 2022-011 has been revoked and Variation Order 2022-015 comes into effect on March 30, 2022.

DFO advises that the Greenland Halibut fishery in NAFO Division 4R for Quebec-based vessel classes A500 to A700 will open at 0001 hours EDT on April 1, 2022 and close at 2359 hours EDT on October 31, 2022.

The Regional Director General, Fisheries and Oceans Canada, Newfoundland and Labrador Region gives notice that Variation Order 2021-309 has been revoked and Variation Order 2022-016 comes into effect on March 30, 2022.

DFO advises that a Questionnaire regarding the 39'11" Vessel Length overall for Inshore Core Enterprises went out on March 21, 2022 to all Core licence holders through the email addresses provided in NOLS. Please check your email or with your NOLS representative to respond to the questionnaire.

All responses must be sent via email. Please note the deadline to respond is April 4th, 2022.

Directed Atlantic Halibut Fishery Closing in 3Ps

DFO advises that the Atlantic Halibut fishery in NAFO Sub-Division 3Ps will close for fixed gear vessels less than 65 feet using longlines (Vessel Class A440) at 2400 hours on Thursday March 31, 2022.

Fish harvesters are reminded to return their Inshore Fixed Gear Logbooks after the conclusion of fishing operations as per conditions of licence.

The Regional Director General, Fisheries and Oceans Canada, Newfoundland and Labrador Region gives notice that Variation Order 2022-007 has been revoked and Variation Order 2022-011 comes into effect on March 29, 2022.

Reminder - SCALLOP FISHERY CLOSURE - PLACENTIA BAY

DFO advises fish harvesters that the portion of Scallop Fishing Area 10 (Placentia Bay), inside a line drawn from Point Verde (47 14.33" N, 54 00.94"W) on the east side of the bay, to Red Harbour (47 16.59"N, 54 58.58"w) on the west side, Inner Bay, will close 2000 March 31, 2022 and will reopen 0600 hours September 1, 2022 in line with the management plan for that fishery.

This spawning closure is a scheduled closure and is consistent with the Conservation Harvesting Plan (CHP) for this fishery.

Fish harvesters are reminded that all fishing gear must be removed from the water prior to the closure
