HERRING MG EXTRA LARGE FLEET (Greater than 65’) PURSE SEINE FISHERY OPENING IN AREAS 13 AND 14

DFO advises that the Herring purse seine fishery, for the extra large (greater than 65’ mobile gear) fleet in Herring Fishing Areas 13 and 14, will open at 1800 hours, April 4, 2024.

The Small Fish Protocol approved and implemented for this fleet will continue for this management cycle.

The Regional Director General, Fisheries and Oceans Canada, Newfoundland and Labrador Regions gives notice that Variation Order 2024-018 has been revoked and Variation Order 2024-019 comes into effect at 1600 hours on April 4, 2024.

2024 SNOW CRAB SEASON OPENING FOR Inshore 3L and 3Ps

Fisheries and Oceans Canada advises that the Snow Crab fishery will open at 12:00 am (midnight) on Saturday, April 6, 2024 for the purpose of travelling to the fishing ground for the following Crab Management Areas:

3L: 5A, 6A, 6B, 6C, 8A, 9A

3Ps: 10A, 11E, 11W

Fish harvesters are reminded that they are not authorized to set Crab traps until 6 hours after the Snow Crab fishery season has opened. Therefore, any setting of Crab traps or possession of Crab before 6:00 am on Saturday, April 6, 2024 is prohibited.

The Regional Director General, Fisheries and Oceans Canada, Newfoundland and Labrador Region gives notice that Variation Order 2023-296 has been revoked and Variation Order 2024-016 is in effect as of April 3, 2024.

3LNO: NS, MS, 8B, 8Bx, 8Bx North, 8Bx South, MS ex, 3L ex, 3N200, 3L200, 3NO200

3Ps: 10B, 11S
