SNOW CRAB SEASON EXTENSION FOR SELECT CRAB FISHING AREAS IN NAFO DIVISIONS 3Ps

DFO advises that the Snow crab fishery will now close at 2000 hours on Thursday, July 7, 2022 in select Crab Management Areas in NAFO Divisions 3Ps for both Inshore and Supplementary fleets. This season extensions applies exclusively to the following Crab Management Areas:

11S

Harvesters are reminded that all fishing gear must be removed from the water by closing time.

The Regional Director General, Fisheries and Oceans Canada, Newfoundland and Labrador Region gives notice that Variation Order 2022-063 has been revoked and Variation Order 2022-091 comes into effect on June 25, 2022.

Snow Crab Season Extension for parts of NAFO Division 3K

DFO advises that the Snow Crab fishery has been extended for parts of NAFO Division 3K and will now close at 2000 hours on July 7, 2022 for the following Crab Fishing Areas:

3B, 3BC, 3C, 3D, and area 4.

The Regional Director General, Fisheries and Oceans Canada, Newfoundland and Labrador Region, gives notice that Variation Order 2022-063 has been revoked and Variation Order 2022-091 comes into effect on June 25, 2022.

2022 Homewaters Bluefin Tuna Fishery Opening

DFO advises that Bluefin tuna fishery for vessels fishing homewaters in NAFO Divisions 3KLNOP will open at 1800 hours on Friday, June 24, 2022.

Tags are only available to those harvesters who have declared they will fish homewaters and must be purchased by August 5, 2022.

Licence conditions are available on the National Online Licensing System (NOLS). Observer coverage must be paid prior to tag purchase.

Tuna tags and ICCAT forms are available at DFO Detachment offices in Bay Roberts, Clarenville and Marystown. Harvesters are asked to contact DFO Detachment offices to arrange tag pick up.

Harvesters are reminded that the use of VMS is mandatory for the 2022 season.

Angling gear only may be used while fishing within 12 nautical miles of the nearest point of land.

Bluefin tuna harvesters are encouraged to return tuna heads to one of the locations listed in the Conservation Harvesting Plan.

Atlantic Halibut Opening in 4R for Quebec Region Fleet

DFO advises that the Atlantic halibut fishery in NAFO Division 4R, for vessels based in the Quebec Region, will open at 0430 hours EDT June 28, 2022 and close at 2359 hours EDT August 23, 2022. The specific vessel classes affected by these openings and closings are A949 to A990.

The Regional Director General, Fisheries and Oceans Canada, Newfoundland and Labrador Region gives notice that Variation Order 2022-085 has been revoked and Variation Order 2022-089 comes into effect on June 24, 2022.
