DFO wishes to advise lobster harvesters in lobster Fishing Area 11 that Buddy-up has been approved. The 2024 Buddy-up Application is available by making a request through the National Online Licensing System (NOLS) https://fishing-peche.dfo-mpo.gc.ca/

Arrangements must be requested, approved, and in place prior to the release of 2024 Lobster Licence Conditions, the start of the 2024 Lobster season, and before any fishing activity occurs for the buddy-up species.

PLEASE NOTE: APPLICATIONS MUST BE RECEIVED BY CLOSE OF BUSINESS DAY, 17:00 HOURS, ON APRIL 15, 2024.

2024 SNOW CRAB SEASON OPENING FOR Inshore 3L and 3Ps

Fisheries and Oceans Canada advises that the Snow Crab fishery will open at 12:00 am (midnight) on Saturday, April 6, 2024 for the purpose of travelling to the fishing ground for the following Crab Management Areas:

3L: 5A, 6A, 6B, 6C, 8A, 9A

3Ps: 10A, 11E, 11W

Fish harvesters are reminded that they are not authorized to set Crab traps until 6 hours after the Snow Crab fishery season has opened. Therefore, any setting of Crab traps or possession of Crab before 6:00 am on Saturday, April 6, 2024 is prohibited.

The Regional Director General, Fisheries and Oceans Canada, Newfoundland and Labrador Region gives notice that Variation Order 2023-296 has been revoked and Variation Order 2024-016 is in effect as of April 3, 2024.

3LNO: NS, MS, 8B, 8Bx, 8Bx North, 8Bx South, MS ex, 3L ex, 3N200, 3L200, 3NO200

3Ps: 10B, 11S

DFO advises fish harvesters that the portion of Scallop Fishing Area 10 (Placentia Bay), inside a line drawn from Point Verde (47 14.33" N, 54 00.94"W) on the east side of the bay, to Red Harbour (47 16.59"N, 54 58.58"w) on the west side, Inner Bay, will close 2000 hours March 31, 2024 and will reopen 0600 hours September 1, 2024 in line with the management plan for that fishery.

REMINDER: 2024 Applications for Crab Fishing Area 3BC in NAFO Division 3K are Available

DFO wishes to advise inshore crab harvesters in Crab Fishing Areas 3B (White Bay) and 3C (Green Bay) in NAFO Division 3K that applications for CFA 3BC are now available.

Harvesters can obtain an application by contacting the area licencing center by phone or e-mail. Applications can also be requested from the National Online Licencing System (NOLS).

Applications must be returned to the Area Office by close of business on March 15, 2024.
