REMINDER - LOBSTER FISHING CLOSING DATES IN AREAS 10 AND 11

DFO advises of the following closing dates for the following Lobster Fishing Areas:

Note all closing times are 2000 hours.

- LFA 10 (Placentia Bay): July 11, 2025.
- LFA 11 East (East of Western Head, Hare Bay): June 22, 2025.
- LFA 11 West (West of Western Head, Hare Bay): June 29, 2025.

Fish harvesters are reminded that all fishing gear must be removed from the water by closing time.

DFO advises that the commercial Scallop fishery in NAFO Divisions 2GHJ (Scallop Fishing Areas 1 and 2), will open at 0600 hours Sunday, June 15, 2025.

The Regional Director General, Fisheries and Oceans Canada, Newfoundland and Labrador Region gives notice that Variation Order 2025-080 has been revoked, and Variation Order 2025-085 comes into effect on June 14, 2025.

DFO advises that the Scallop Fishery in the 3Ps North Bed in Scallop Fishing Area (SFA) 11 will close on Sunday, June 8, 2025, at 2000 hours. It is expected that the Quota has been reached.

The Regional Director General, Fisheries and Oceans Canada, Newfoundland and Labrador Region give notice that Variation Order 2025-051 has been revoked, and Variation Order 2025-080 comes into effect on June 7, 2025.

Soft-Shell Closed Areas for Crab and Shrimp in NAFO Division 3K

DFO advises that in accordance with the soft-shell protocol, the following grids in Crab Fishing Area 4 in NAFO Division 3K will close to fishing Snow Crab and Northern Shrimp at midnight on Friday, June 6, 2025 due to a high incidence of soft-shell crab:

Grid W 36
Grid X 38
Grid Y 37

These grids will be closed to Snow crab fishing for the remainder of the year. Harvesters should note that all gear in these grids must be removed immediately. Gear must be hauled and not reset on your next fishing trip.

The closure for Northern shrimp is in effect for 60 days, and will re-open on August 5, 2025, if the shrimp fishery is open at that time.

Grid quandrant W 36 is defined as the area bounded by the following coordinates:

51° 40' North, 54° 30' West;
51° 40' North, 54° 20' West;
51° 30' North, 54° 20' West;
51° 30' North, 54° 30' West; 
51° 40' North, 54° 30' West;

Grid quandrant X 38 is defined as the area bounded by the following coordinates:

Emerging 3LNO Sea Cucumber Fishery Opening

Notice description

DFO advises that the Emerging Sea Cucumber fishery in NAFO Divisions 3LNO will open at 0600 hours on Sunday June 1, 2025 to permit holders.

License conditions will become available in the DFO National Online Licensing System (NOLS) in advance of the planned fishing dates that permit-holders have submitted to the Department.

Permit holders are also reminded that completion of assigned survey blocks is a condition of licence, and that 100% at-sea observer coverage is also required.
