DFO advises that the commercial Scallop fishery in NAFO Divisions 2GHJ (Scallop Fishing Areas 1 and 2), will open at 0600 hours Thursday, June 15, 2023.

The Regional Director General, Fisheries and Oceans Canada, Newfoundland and Labrador Region give notice that Variation Order 2023-087 has been revoked and Variation Order 2023-101 comes into effect on June 10, 2023.

DFO advises that the Snow crab fishery has been extended in all areas of Crab Fishing Area 12. The fishery will now close at 2000 hours on Friday, June 30, 2023.

The Regional Director General, Fisheries and Oceans Canada, Newfoundland and Labrador Region gives notice that Variation Order 2023-088 has been revoked and Variation Order 2023-100 comes into effect on June 9, 2023.

DFO advises that the Snow Crab fishery will open at 6:00 a.m. Monday May 29, 2023, for 2J (South) and will close at 2400 hours on Sunday, July 23, 2023.

Fish harvesters are reminded that they are not authorized to set Crab traps until 72 hours after the Snow Crab fishery season has opened. Therefore, any setting of Crab traps or possession of Crab before 6:00AM on Thursday, June 1st is prohibited.

- LFA 14B (Point Riche to Big Brook): May 23, 2023 to July 15, 2023;
- LFA 14C (Big Brook to Cape Bauld) May 23, 2023 to July 15, 2023.

Harvesters are reminded that they are not permitted to retrieve fishing gear or possess lobsters during the initial 48 hour gear-setting period after the opening date.
