DFO advises that in accordance with the soft-shell protocol, the following grid in Crab Fishing Area Midshore in NAFO Division 3L will close to fishing Snow Crab at midnight on Thursday, August 24, 2023 due to a high incidence of soft-shell crab:

Grid N25

This grid will be closed to Snow crab fishing for the remainder of the year. Harvesters should note that all gear in this grid must be removed immediately. Gear must be hauled and not reset on your next fishing trip.

Grid N25 is defined as the area bounded by the following coordinates:
47° 10' North, 50° 30' West
47° 00' North, 50° 30' West
47° 00' North, 50° 20' West
47° 10' North, 50° 20' West
47° 10' North, 50° 30' West

The Regional Director General, Fisheries and Oceans Canada, Newfoundland and Labrador Region gives notice that Variation Order 2023-227 has been revoked and Variation Order 2023-233 comes into effect on August 23, 2023.

3N200 Grid W 37

These grids will be closed to Snow crab fishing for the remainder of the year. Harvesters should note that all gear in this grid must be removed immediately. Gear must be hauled and not reset on your next fishing trip.

Grid M41 is defined as the area bounded by the following coordinates:

DFO advises that the Snow Crab fishery for all CMAs in NAFO Division 3LNO with the exception of 8Bx South will be extended and will now close at 2000 hours on August 31, 2023.

The Regional Director General, Fisheries and Oceans Canada, Newfoundland and Labrador Region, gives notice that Variation Order 2023-192 has been revoked and Variation Order 2023-206 comes into effect on August 11, 2023.

DFO advises that in accordance with the soft-shell protocol, the following grid in NAFO Division 2J will close to fishing Snow Crab and Northern Shrimp at midnight on Saturday, August 5, 2023 due to a high incidence of soft-shell crab:

Grid B 18

This grid will be closed to Snow crab fishing for the remainder of the year. Harvesters should note that all gear in this grid must be removed immediately. Gear must be hauled and not reset on your next fishing trip.

The closure for Northern shrimp is in effect for 60 days, and will re-open on October 4, 2023, if the shrimp fishery is open at that time.

Grid B18 is defined as the area bounded by the following coordinates:

55° 10' North, 57° 30' West
55° 10' North, 57° 20' West
55° 00' North, 57° 20' West
55° 00' North, 57° 30' West
55° 10' North, 57° 30' West

3PS COMMERCIAL DIVING FISHERY PILOT PROJECT

DFO advises that the portion of Scallop Fishing Area 11 (Fortune Bay) from Dantzic Point to Point Rosie will open to a commercial harvest of scallop as a continuation of the 2017 pilot project at 0600 hours on August 2, 2023, and will close at 2000 hours on October 20, 2023.

Please note that additional reporting requirements for this fishery include the submission of weekly logs to DFO.

Please submit a request through the National Online Licensing System to indicate your interest and to receive licence conditions.
