Notice description

DFO advises that the 2J3KL Stewardship cod fishery in NAFO Divisions 3KL will close at 1600 hours on Sunday, August 27.
This closure applies to vessel classes A283 and A295.

The Department prioritizes safety at sea and if a harvester is unable to retrieve their gear by the close time due to safety, they are advised to contact their local C&P detachment.

The Department will make an announcement at a later date regarding reopening the fishery in 3KL for the fall period for all harvesters (regular season and those who opted for fall only). This reopening will be communicated in advance via a Notice to Fish Harvesters.

The Regional Director General, Fisheries and Oceans Canada, Newfoundland and Labrador Region gives notice that Variation Order 2023-153 has been revoked and Variation Order 2023-241 comes into effect on August 26, 2023.
