Salmon River Closures in Salmon Fishing Areas 3, 4, 13, and 14A

DFO advises anglers of the following closures to all angling until further notice, effective one hour after sunset on August 12, 2025:

Salmon Fishing Area 4
37. West River, Hall’s Bay, including Rowsell’s Brook & Barney’s Brook
38. South Brook, Hall’s Bay & tributary streams
48. *Campbellton River & tributaries, including Neyles Brook & Indian Arm River & tributary streams

DFO advises anglers that due to extremely high water temperatures and/or low water levels, the following rivers in Salmon Fishing Areas (SFA) 3, 4, 13, and 14A will be restricted to morning angling only, effective one hour after sunset on August 12, 2025.

During this period, angling is permitted from one hour before sunrise to 10:00 am each day and will be closed to angling from 10:01 am to one hour before sunrise on the following day.

The rivers will reopen as conditions improve. Please refer to the 2025 Angler's Guide for further information on the environmental protocol.

27. *Sops Arm River, including Main Doucer’s, Natlin’s, Corner Brook, and all tributary streams

Salmon Fishing Area 4
35. *Burlington River
36. Indian River, Hall’s Bay, including Burnt Berry Brook below falls, Davis Brook and Black Brook
39. Tommy’s Arm River and tributary streams
42. Leamington River
44. Northern Arm River, Bay of Exploits
45. Peter’s River, Bay of Exploits
46. Exploits River & Tributary Streams
•    Main stem of mid-Exploits from Grand Falls fishway to Red Indian Lake dam
•    Main stem, from Stoney Brook to Exploits Bay
•    Tributaries below Grand Falls fishway
•    Tributaries of mid-Exploits from Grand Falls fishway to Red Indian Lake dam

The Regional Director General, Fisheries and Oceans Canada, Newfoundland and Labrador Region gives notice that Variation Orders 2025-179, 2025-180, 2025-181, 2025-182 and 2025-183 have been revoked and Variation Orders 2025-185, 2025-186, 2025-187, 2025-188 and 2025-189 will come into effect at 1800 hours on August 12, 2025.
