DFO would like to remind harvesters fishing in the 3KL regular season that catch limits and gear limits will change on Sunday, August 14th and new licence conditions are required. This applies to vessel classes A283 and A295. New licence conditions will be available soon on the National Online Licensing System (NOLS).

The authorized catch limit will change to a bi-weekly base limit of 7700 lbs and the authorized gear limits will also change as per the CHP on August 14, 2022. Landings for the 2022 2J3KL Northern Cod Stewardship Fishery total 5,765t for the period up to and including Wednesday, August 10th.

The Department will continue to monitor this fishery closely to ensure that the total harvest in 3KL remains within the maximum authorized harvest allocated for the summer period (7799t) as per the CHP. An update will be communicated to harvesters by a Notice to Fishers early next week.

Harvesters are reminded that they are to ensure that landing limits are not exceeded by setting only the amount of fishing gear that is necessary.

The Regional Director General, Fisheries and Oceans Canada, Newfoundland and Labrador Region gives notice that Variation Order 2021-201 has been revoked and Variation Order 2022-177 comes into effect on August 12, 2022.
