NOTICE TO FISH HARVESTERS
Herring Fixed Gear Fishery Open in Area 12, 13 and 14
DFO advises that the Herring fishery for the fixed gear fleets (trap, gillnet, bar seine - including tuck seine), in Herring Fishing Area 12 (NAFO sub-Division 3Pn) and Herring Fishing Area 13 (Cape Ray to Cape St. Gregory), will open Saturday, April 30, 2016.
Interim quotas for HFA 13 and 14 are in place and harvesters are reminded of the following:
- The harvesting cap structure for Area 13 and 14 that has been in place for the number of seasons will continue for the 2016 season.
- Fishing limitations are in effect while fishing inside Bay St. George and Port au Port Bay. Details are noted in the licence conditions.
- There is a spawning closure in effect for the bottom portion of Bay St. George. No fishing is permitted inside the area from Harbour Point, Flat Rock to Indian Point, Port Harmon South.
- No fishing with fixed gear is permitted in the inner portion of the Bay of Islands (North Arm, Humber Arm, York Harbour and Lark Harbour), inside a straight line from Crabb Point to North Arm Point to Middle Arm Point to Peter Point, Woods Island to Shoal Point to Fleming Point.

The Regional Director General, Fisheries and Oceans Canada, Newfoundland and Labrador Regions gives notice that Variation Order 2016-023 has been revoked and Variation Order 2016-032 comes into effect on April 30, 2016.
